Make Your Website Sticky

by Lyn Leckie-Matassa ~ June 16th, 2008. Filed under: Targeted Traffic.

We all love it when we get website visitors don’t we. There are a collection of ways to get your website visitor to hang around and look at other pages on your site. This is the art of making your website sticky. Some of these ways include:

1. Linking to other posts in your posts. This enables your visitor to see other posts relevant to what they are already reading and can lead to them going deeper and deeper into your website.

2. Have a popular posts section so that your visitor can easily find your best work.

3. Publish comments on your main page of your site, this invites your visitors to write comments as they can actually get something back in return for visiting your site a link back to their site.

4. Have a clean fresh site, don’t make it over cluttered and try not to make it a slow to load page. If you are having trouble with your page loading slow you may need to change your image files to png instead of jpg as this is a smaller size file and opens much quicker.

5. Have your RSS feed available and easy to see, if they like what they read they may subscribe and when they subscribe they will get a list of your last 10 posts.

6. Make sure your site is full of fresh unique content.

A website owner is always on the quest to get targeted traffic to their site and one of the best things we can do with that traffic is to do whatever we can to keep that visitor once they have arrived.
